CEO attends 2019 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF)

J. Paul Rollinson, President & CEO, attended the 2019 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Russia’s largest conference that unites global leaders to discuss growth and economic development opportunities across various industries in Russia.

This year’s event attracted 19,000 participants from over 145 countries.

Paul spoke as a panelist at the session ‘Corporate Social Responsibility as a Driver of Sustainable Development’ and was a participant in meetings with President Vladimir Putin, the Minister of Natural Resources & Environment, the Governor of Chukotka, other government officials and heads of major international companies.

During his panel session, Paul spoke on Kinross’ Corporate Responsibility track record in Russia’s Far East and how the Company has contributed to socio-economic development, environmental responsibility initiatives and ongoing engagement with communities in the region.

“Kinross has operated in Russia for almost 25 years, 11 of which within the Arctic circle in Chukotka. We have been able to perform well in the corporate responsibility area because it is integral to our business strategy,” said J. Paul Rollinson, President & CEO. “Mining responsibility is not just a priority, it is an imperative for us, and is engrained in the day-to-day tasks of everyone in the Company.”

This was Paul’s seventh attendance at the SPIEF, engaging with government officials and other business leaders to further investment in Russia’s Far East.
