Latest shipment of Project C.U.R.E. medical supplies delivered to Mauritania

In the latest Kinross-sponsored Project C.U.R.E. delivery, US$500,000 worth of vital medical equipment and supplies arrived for a hospital and three health centres in Assaba, a community near Tasiast.

The partnership with the U.S. non-profit organization and the Mauritanian Ministry of Health has already contributed medical supplies like defibrillators, monitors, surgical instruments, beds, blood pressure monitors, exam tables and needles to nearly 30 health facilities in Mauritania since 2014.

Over the past three years, US$4.3 million worth of medical equipment has been delivered and 50 Mauritanian nurses and midwives have been trained in neonatal care to fight infant mortality. This is the tenth donation out of a series of eleven scheduled deliveries for the communities around Tasiast.

“We are incredibly proud to help provide access to medical care and life-saving equipment to make a difference in peoples’ lives,” said Raitt MarshallVice-President and General Manager, Tasiast.

Project C.U.R.E. profiled the partnership with Kinross in their latest newsletter. Read it here.
