Paracatu sponsors student mining and communications competition

To get students to explore communications challenges in mining, and encourage new ways of fostering transparency and dialogues with stakeholders, Paracatu supported a student communications challenge at the World Mining Congress in Rio de Janeiro.

Five teams battled for the top spot at the global mining event that takes place every three years, with our own Ana Maria Ferreira CunhaCommunications and Community Manager, Paracatu, and Elenilce Clara Ribeiro, Communications Specialist, Paracatu, judging the competition.

Rio Grande do Sul University in Porto Alegre, Brazil won first place with a robust campaign plan to use photos and mining stories to share in Brazil around Miner’s Day activities in local communities.

“We were proud to be a part of the communications competition to get the next generation of communicators thinking about community relations and new ways to explain the mining process to people outside the industry,” said Ana Maria Ferreira Cunha. “The World Mining Congress was a great place for the competition with global mining industry leaders sharing new innovative ideas.”
