See how we are helping conserve water in Paracatu, Brazil

Since 2009, Kinross has partnered with local organizations focused on water conservation to create the Paracatu Spring Water Protection Project.

Paracatu is part of the Cerrado region, one of the largest savannahs in Brazil. In recent years, rainfall has decreased, resulting in a reduced supply of water.

The Paracatu Spring Water Protection Project focuses on working together as a community to develop a solution for conserving water.

“At the forefront, this project’s goal is water conservation, and involving community members and local producers is a necessity. Our mission is to develop a solution that will grow and leave a lasting positive impact on the community,” said Alessandro Nepomuceno, Director of Sustainability and Communication, Paracatu.

The project has already seen impressive results with over 1,500 hectares of land and 300 water springs protected to date.
