Tasiast brings environment-friendly energy to local community

Tasiast has donated environmentally friendly solar energy kits to 69 households in the small village of Dawass, located 14 kilometres from the site.

Energy is difficult to access in the remote desert areas around the site so the kits – which also included safe batteries, phone chargers, lamps and flashlights – will go a long way in helping the community.

Brahim Yacoub, Community and Government Relations Manager, and Mohamed Khattar, Community Relations Officer, delivered the kits and provided training.

“We are happy to make this positive contribution in Dawass. The solar kits will help make cooking, lighting, charging mobile phone batteries, and other every day activities possible. This will have long-term positive effects in the community,” said Mohamed Khattar, Community Relations Officer.
