Check out this video by the World Gold Council to see how Kinross is supporting the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through positive contributions to communities.
The
World Gold Council featured Kinross’ work in advancing the SDGs by speaking
with Ed Opitz, Senior Vice-President, Safety and Sustainability, and employees at
our Tasiast and Chirano sites who have led initiatives that have improved the
well-being of communities near our mines.
Hapsatou Bal, Community
Relations Manager, Nouakchott, discussed our efforts to create jobs and
economic opportunities for women in West Africa, which supports SDG 1 (no
poverty) and SDG 5 (gender equality).
Eunice Whaja Donkoh, Community Relations Superintendent, Chirano, discussed our
initiative to connect community members to power grids in Ghana, which supports
SDG 7 (clean and affordable energy).
