We are excited to announce that the Atacama Regional Development Corporation has recognized Kinross Chile with the ‘Company of the Year in the Atacama’ Award.
The award aims to highlight the contributions made by organizations and institutions in the Atacama region who have earned the trust and respect of the community and to spotlight companies and institutions whose actions have generated significant positive impacts.
“We are very proud to be recognized for our contribution to the Atacama region,” said Rodrigo Gomides, Vice-President and General Manager, Kinross Chile. “I would like to dedicate this award to all of our employees and contractors who have played a role in our success. This award serves as motivation for us all to continue moving forward with our projects in Chile and continue strengthening our commitment to the Atacama’s growth.”
Kinross Chile received this award in recognition of 30 years of dedication to providing economic, social and environmental contributions to the Atacama, including US$1.7 billion in benefits since 2010, 100% renewable energy at La Coipa and committing over US$1.5 million annually toward social investment initiatives.
Kinross Chile was also recognized for their strong, long-term relationships with the community which have positioned them as a strategic partner in the region. Their social strategy reaches approximately 68,000 people each year through education, culture, and sports initiatives and fosters open, transparent communication.
“At Kinross Chile, we are deeply committed to the growth of the community and the Atacama region,” said Elizabeth Hughes, Deputy General Manager, La Coipa. “We have a mission that is tied to the Atacama’s development and this award serves as an inspiration to us to continue working toward the goal of making a meaningful impact in the community.”
In addition to the contributions made to date, Kinross Chile has been recognized for their long-term commitments in the Atacama through investments in projects such as La Coipa, the Purén Life Extension and Lobo-Marte, all of which aim to provide economic opportunities while promoting high environmental standards in the region.
“This award is a reflection of the work we have done alongside the Atacama Regional Development Corporation, demonstrating how we, as a company, engage with our communities and environment,” said Patricio Pinto, Director, External Affairs, Chile. “This recognition is not only for our employees, but for everyone who has been a part of the Kinross Chile team over the years – this will continue to be a motivation for us, and new team members who join us, as we continue driving new developments in the region.”
