Kinross Gold was excited to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ (UNLV), 2025 GeoSymposium with David Todaro, Geology Manager, Kinross Nevada, receiving the honour of keynote speaker of the event.
During his address, David shared valuable insight into the industry with aspiring geologists, including life on the mine site, real-world applications of drilling, sampling, and modeling and the interpretation of mineralization through data logging and analysis. David walked students through the full cycle of exploration and production to provide a first-hand perspective on how geology supports decision-making and efficiency in mining operations. David’s talk emphasized the critical role geologists play in the industry in guiding both exploration and active production efforts.
Captured above, David prepares to kick off his presentation at the UNLV 2025 GeoSymposium. A special thank you to David for representing Kinross, sharing his passion for the field and mentoring the next generation of geologists.
Kinross Gold is committed to supporting geoscience education and fostering future industry leaders. In 2022, we pledged two endowments to UNLV worth over US$135,000 aimed at enriching academic discourse. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with UNLV to inspire and educate geoscientists of tomorrow.
