In November, Paul Rollinson, CEO, Baba Salihi, Vice-President, External Affairs, Tasiast, and Daniel Fombonne, Vice-President, Deputy General Counsel & Global Compliance, attended the third meeting of High Council for Investment in Mauritania, held in Nouakchott.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency President of the Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and attended by 28 Council members consisting of foreign business leaders, major Mauritanian companies, professional organizations and high-level government officials including His Excellency Prime Minister, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Djay.
The Council, which was established in February 2020, aims to provide strategic guidance and enhanced dialogue between members to strengthen Mauritania’s investment appeal and support ongoing reforms in the investment sector.
Paul Rollinson represented Kinross on the Council where he reaffirmed our support of Mauritania’s investment climate and economic development through discussions focused on progress in improving the business environment and proposing new ways to enhance competitiveness and growth to position Mauritania as an attractive destination for international investment.
In addition to the Council meeting, the Kinross delegation met with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and the Minister Head of Presidential Cabinet to discuss Kinross’ success both operationally, environmentally and socio-economically in the Country and ways to further develop the partnership to continue generating mutually beneficial opportunities for both Kinross and Mauritania.
