In May, Kinross Tasiast continued their quarterly ‘Family Visit’ program by welcoming members of the Processing team’s families to site to learn more about the operation.
Over the course of two days, more than 150 family members visited Tasiast where they had the opportunity to see their loved ones workplace and meet with their colleagues’ families.
Day one of the family visit kicked off with a painting workshop for children to explore their creative side and create masterpieces to be displayed in the entertainment room on site. Attendees then prepared for some friendly competition with the launch of the third annual ‘Safety Champions Football League’ which encouraged participants to work together in a team environment and build relationships with each others’ loved ones.
The second day was filled with exploration. Attendees participated in a mine site tour that included the lookout point, processing plant, employee camp and the various amenities on site including the ladies lounge, restaurant, exercise facilities and mosque. The day concluded by meeting with Afjal Hashim, Vice-President and General Manager, Tasiast, and Jaylem Manhas, Vice-President and Deputy General Manager, Tasiast, who spoke with visitors on the exciting day-to-day operations at Tasiast, provided recognition to the Processing team for their hard work, and thanked families for attending the visit and supporting their spouse’s in their careers at Kinross Tasiast.
