This summer, Kinross was excited to welcome the Wali of Inchiri and a delegation from the region to our Tasiast mine for a two-day strategic visit.

The visit was an opportunity to strengthen ties between Kinross and regional authorities and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to local development, sustainability and responsible mining practices.

Members of the delegation visiting Tasiast included the President of the Inchiri Regional Council, the Hakem of Benichab, the Member of Parliament for Benichab, the Mayor of Benichab, the Heads of the National Guard and National Security, and other local and regional officials.

The delegation was welcomed by Afjal Hashim, Vice President & General Manager, Tasiast, and Baba Salihi, Vice-President, External Affairs, Tasiast, who provided a tour of the Tasiast camp, West Branch Pit and Processing Plant highlighting the large scale of the operation, and progressive safety standards adhered to by the Company and its employees. The Tasiast delegation then provided an overview of our community investment initiatives, environmental stewardship efforts, local development and employee well-being programs.

At the conclusion of the visit, Tasiast leadership reiterated Kinross’ commitment to partnership – particularly through the Tasiast Fund which emphasizes transparency, local engagement and positive long-term impact.
