Kinross Tasiast was proud to partner once again with the city of Nouadhibou as a gold sponsor for the 14th edition of the Nouadhibou International Marathon!
This year’s exciting event brought together over 4,000 competitors from across Mauritania and several other countries to compete in either a 5, 10, 15 or 21km race through the city. The race included 35 Kinross employees including Baba Salihi, Vice-President of External Relations, Tasiast, and Dominic Channer, Vice-President, Community Relations and Sustainable Development, who led the Kinross delegation with enthusiasm, discipline and team spirit.
Congratulations to all employees and participants of the marathon, and a special congratulations to our employees - Astou Dieng, Executive Assistant, External Relations, Tasiast, and Gabriela Rúa, Manager, External Relations & Social Performance, Las Palmas, - who received second and third place (respectively) in the 10km race!
“The Nouadhibou Marathon is a landmark event that we look forward to each year. The marathon demonstrates values that align with our Kinross values of teamwork, hard work, and dedication, and reflect the importance of social responsibility by investing in our employees' and communities' wellness,” said Baba. “The victories from this race are not limited to your placement in the event, but a reflection of each participant's hard work and dedication to competing, and each volunteer and spectator's commitment to supporting their peers and accomplishing a successful event.”
In the spirit of social responsibility, at the conclusion of the event, the Kinross Tasiast team organized a clean-up campaign to promote teamwork and environmental responsibility and to demonstrate our commitment to supporting the region. All participants, spectators and organizers were then invited to attend a celebration in the evening to commemorate team spirit and a sense of belonging in this special International event.
