At Kinross, we are committed to mining responsibly and generating long-term sustainable value in the host countries and communities where we operate by creating positive economic and social benefits.
In Mauritania, we have developed community investment initiatives aimed at improving the overall quality of life of our local stakeholders, and ensuring our impact extends beyond the mine site.
This video focuses on two of these initiatives – first, a partnership with the Mauritanian Ministry of Health and NGO ‘Project C.U.R.E.’ to provide medical supplies and equipment in remote regions of Mauritania, and second the ‘Tasiast Fund’ focused on supporting education and sustainability initiatives in the communities surrounding the mine site.

To date, Kinross has provided a total of US$7.3 million to support over 1 million patients with medical supplies and equipment through our partnership with the Mauritanian Ministry of Health and Project C.U.R.E., and US$4 million in education and socio-economic development initiatives through the first year of the Tasiast Fund.
