Chirano named ‘safest mine in Ghana’ by the Ghana Chamber of Mines

Congratulations to our Chirano mine that was recently named the top mine in Ghana for Health, Safety and Environmental measures by the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission of Ghana and Ghana Chamber of Mines!

Dr. Kodua Dapaah, HSE Manager, Chirano, accepted the award at the 2019 Mine Performance Awards held during the finals of the 2019 National Inter-mines First Aid and Safety Competition. The award was shared with Chirano employees later in the month.

“Kinross is proud to receive this award demonstrating our commitment to protecting our top priorities: our people and the environment,” said Dr. Kodua Dapaah. “A special thanks to our employees who keep health, safety and environmental preservation at the forefront every day as this award would not be possible without their dedication.”

Kinross’ first-place ranking tops 14 large-scale mining operations in Ghana including AngloGold Ashanti, Goldfields, and Newmont.
