Drilling down costs one cable at a time

Employees: Dvoinoye’s Underground (UG) Maintenance team

Problem: The maintenance cost of ordering spare cables for UG drilling equipment from offshore suppliers is high.

Suggestion: The UG Maintenance team proposed creating and building cables using onshore spare parts.

Result: The supplier cost for one cable is approximately US $740, while the in-house cables cost approximately US $80. The team changes an average of 34 cables per year, which has saved more than US $25,000.
