Kinross Brazil ‘Integrar’ program receives award for COVID-19 efforts

In 2021, Kinross Brazil’s Integrar program  received a Brazilian Protection Award for their efforts to provide community support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Brazilian Protection Awards are presented annually by ‘Proteção’ magazine to honour companies and professionals who are making a positive impact in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.

The Integrar program received the ‘Gold’ award in the ‘Occupational Health and Safety Actions with the Community’ category for their initiatives focused on mental health, education, employment and local income generation during the pandemic.

Kinross Brazil recognized the impact COVID-19 was having on the community at the onset of the pandemic and created the virtual ‘Integrar Contra COVID-19’ (Integrar Against COVID-19) program in an effort to mitigate the impacts of the health crisis and maintain Paracatu’s cultural, economic and environmental programs. Through this platform, they were able to support more than 13,000 community members and share resources virtually.

“The pandemic has been a challenging time for us all. As a Company, we knew it was our responsibility to use our resources to support our employees, their families and our neighbours and minimize the negative impacts of the pandemic,” said Ana Cunha, Government Relations & Social Responsibility Director. “We are proud of the work our team has done to keep the community in Paracatu strong, and to be recognized through this award.”

Kinross Brazil was also recognized in three other categories for the Brazilian Protection Awards including a Gold award in Machinery and Equipment Safety, Silver in Electricity Safety and Bronze in Management Systems.
