Kinross concludes successful first year of the Peer Networking Program

Last week, Kinross successfully concluded the first year of the Peer Networking Program that launched in November 2020. The final session brought together internal participants and Kinross’ three female Board members, Catherine McLeod-Seltzer, Ave Lethbridge, and Elizabeth McGregor.

The Board members spoke about their backgrounds and experiences overcoming challenges in their careers, and becoming female leaders in male-dominated industries. At the end of their remarks, our Board Chair, Catherine McLeod-Seltzer, shared her thoughts on the program and the opportunities it is providing  to the participants.

“I am proud to be a Board member and now Chair of the Board for a company hosting an event like this that is giving women opportunity and recognizing diversity and inclusivity in the workplace,” said Catherine.

After hearing from the Board, the women participated in the workshop ‘Login & Unmute’ that focused on  leadership in the current business environment and the importance of leveraging strengths, growing influence and expanding networks to accelerate success. The session concluded with participants sharing their experiences in the program and how it has benefited their network, and overall career development. “The Peer Networking Program has taught me to find allies in the workplace, and to surround myself with people who can motivate me, and support my career development,” said Olga Stepanova, Corporate Assets Manager, Magadan. “Hearing from others in the program about their experiences and overcoming challenges has made me realize I am not alone and that I have a strong group of women who stand in solidarity with me through my career.”

The Peer Networking program was an opportunity to connect over 40 women at Kinross through shared experiences and mentorship across our global operations. The participants were matched  over the last six months for an opportunity to gain holistic insight into the Company’s diverse functions and the mining industry in various parts of the world.

Kinross will run a second cohort of the Peer Networking Program beginning in the fall of 2021!
