In January, Kinross Russia announced its partnership with Women in Mining (WIM) Russia, further strengthening its commitment to inclusion and diversity.
WIM Russia is dedicated to promoting female empowerment and encouraging professional networking and leadership opportunities for women in the mining and metallurgy industries.
“We believe diversity is pivotal for Kinross’ success in Russia and are very excited about this partnership,” said Claude Schimper, Executive Vice-President, Russia and West Africa Operations. “We remain committed to investing in our people and continuing to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that will add value to Kinross and its people.”
Kinross Russia allocated 500,000 rubles (~US$6,500) to WIM Russia and will sponsor a variety of mentorship programs, events and activities to encourage women in the industry to connect and share experiences to inspire one another.
At Kinross, we are committed to developing a workforce built on inclusion and diversity. In 2020, we launched the Women in Mining Peer Networking Program to connect the women of Kinross across our different regions and disciplines through shared experiences and mentorship. We also encourage employees to nominate their female colleagues during the Living Our Values Awards (LOVA) nomination period in an effort to recognize the accomplishments of the women of Kinross.
Since 2020, five women have become LOVA winners, with two of them representing Russia.
