Amauri joined Kinross in 2008 and has since worked his way up to become a Senior Process Engineer, and most recently an Engineer Specialist. In Amauri’s role, he is responsible for the implementation of controls in Plant II, managing operations and processes.
As an experienced process engineer, Amauri is passionate about improving operational performance and boosting results by using sophisticated software resources aligned with the newest mining technologies to optimize our processes while spending less and producing more.
Amauri’s most recent accomplishment was the installation of the Andritz Control Expert (ACE) system – a system that provides cutting-edge technologies to help increase throughput while reducing costs and protecting the environment. The ACE system is estimated to have increased production by 5,000 oz. or 45 tonnes per hour with progress on the system continuing into 2022 and expected to increase by another 0.5% (1,500 oz.) with the implementation of the SAG noise measurement system.
Amauri believes by sharing his knowledge and expertise with his team they can generate strong results and achieve long-term goals. Amauri encourages his team to branch outside their comfort zone by finding development projects to create efficiencies across the operation. Some examples of his team’s accomplishments include mapping for optimization of SAG discharge grates, the implementation of a ball crusher for mills, installation of ball counters for SAG mills and the installation of remote controls in the crushing plant.
“Amauri demonstrates behaviours correlated to rigorous financial discipline because he is always willing to learn and believes by thinking outside the box he can find alternatives to improve processes and develop people,” said Thiago Nunan, Process Manager, Paracatu. “His work on the ACE system to advance controls is a perfect example of his commitment to thinking big and finding solutions that help improve our workforce and the operation as a whole. His contributions bring significant benefits to Paracatu and help us to do more, while spending less.”
