Djalma joined Kinross in 2011 working as a Mechanic. In 2013, he joined the Pump Tub Utilities team and was later promoted to a Supervisor in 2015.
As a veteran of the Company, Djalma is looked up to by many as a role model, and acts as a mentor to younger employees. He is always available to answer questions and provide support if someone is struggling to work through a task, and will often be the first person to perform a task to act as an example to his colleagues.
Djalma is relied upon by his colleagues, but also serves as an ambassador of Kinross in the community. In 2019 Paracatu held a dam simulation event as a preparedness exercise in the unlikely event of a dam failure. During this time, Djalma acted as a main point of contact for the community by answering questions and providing a sense of comfort and understanding. This was recognized by several community leaders who appreciated his commitment to keeping our neighbours calm and informed during the exercise.
Djalma lives Kinross’ values both at work, and in his personal life. He is passionate about building and strengthening relationships with his peers, and our neighbours through trust and mutual respect.
