The stress and anxiety of the suspension process took its toll on employees and the risk of accidents increased on site. This motivated Guillermo and the La Coipa leadership team to create programs to support the employees’ transition process and increase safety prevention. Safety workshops were created for all employees at site, in coordination with Health & Safety and HR.

He also helped relocate La Coipa employees within the Company. Approximately 100 employees – or 20% of the workforce – were relocated to Maricunga. Employees were also given tips and technical support from occupational psychologists on how to find a new job and approach interviews.

“For Guillermo, treating people with respect, assisting them with the transition process, and being available to answer their questions and claims, was an important for him. He also did an outstanding job budgeting the La Coipa suspension, and his commitment to the Company and compliance with these parameters were performed to safety and environmental guidelines.”
