On November 12, Gavin kicked off the annual tournament that will see 16 teams from each department go head-to-head over a two-week period to win the trophy! Tasiast employees saw local performances and cultural dances and events to celebrate Mauritanian culture during the opening ceremony.
Gavin also spoke with employees on his values and vision for the Company as they close out the year.
“I am excited to be a part of this ceremony and celebrating Mauritanian culture with you all,” said Gavin. “As you can see, from the way we kicked off this tournament tonight, we are kicking off a new focus on improving our culture of health, safety and teambuilding. I look forward to what is to come in the remainder of the year, and 2022!”
Due to high vaccination rates at Tasiast, the tournament was able to proceed this year as it was cancelled in 2020 as a result of the pandemic.
