Global supply chain promotes cross-site learning

The global supply chain management team have created a new cross-site learning program for employees to share best practices and get exposure to the best ideas from other sites.

Earlier this year, Tasiast Supply Chain employees travelled to Fort Knox and Round Mountain to collaborate with their counterparts in the U.S.

Amadou Dieng, Warehouse Superintendent, Tasiast, Abdaty Ahmed Salem, Lead Warehouse Supervisor, Gawssou Toure, Warehouse Supervisor, Mohamed Menoume, Audit Supervisor and Amadou Abdoul Ba, Shipping and Receiving, took part in the trips so they can learn some of the best practices in supply chain at Fort Knox and Round Mountain and take it back to Tasiast.

Regardless of their title, language barrier or technical expertise, our employees from around the world worked together to share their knowledge and teach each other new skills and safety tips to maximize efficiency and continuous improvement.

The idea is that participants become fully immersed in the process and culture at the host site over a two week period and experience how the operations and supply chain cycle works at the mine.

Over the two week trip, Tasiast employees were trained in various workshops ranging from mine safety training, inventory management and supply chain cycles.

“I learned so much in a short time just by putting our heads together. I thank the Supply Chain team and Round Mountain for giving me this opportunity,” said Amadou. “We will all take what we’ve learned back to Tasiast and build on this for the future.”

“We think there is a lot of potential from sharing best practices across the Company and we are very excited to see where this goes,” said Bryan Murphy, Senior Analyst, Supply Chain Enablement, Toronto. “We have already seen positive outcomes and think there will be continued positive effects across the sites.”

The Supply Chain team plans to run the program in Russia later this year with the intent of expanding it globally.
