Kinross employees at Kettle River-Buckhorn have been collecting food, clothing and essential supplies to help those affected by major wildfires which tore through Washington state in late July, destroying more than 300 homes and forcing hundreds more to evacuate. The fires, the largest in the state’s history, spread over 244,000 acres, affecting 12 towns and reaching into the same county as our operations.
Kettle River-Buckhorn has to date donated approximately $15,000, with plans to provide more in the near future, to local relief organizations and businesses to assist displaced families and individuals. Kettle River-Buckhorn has also bought toiletries, toys, water, flashlights, batteries and coolers to take to shelters as part of its fire relief efforts.
