A big congratulations to the Paracatu Continuous Improvement (CI) team, winner of the 2013 CI Award, for the group’s intensive focus on operational excellence and effective use of CI as the catalyst for change. The CI Award measures a site’s success in operational excellence, emphasis on quality over quantity ounces, and disciplined capital approach during the previous year.
In 2013, CI initiatives at Paracatu surpassed the team’s savings target, with an overall savings of $69.5 million and a CI cash flow of $171 million. The savings have reduced costs by more than $138 per ounce.
