Crafted by Children of the Arctic Circle

On December 17th, Kinross co-sponsored Moscow’s Annual Charitable Christmas Bazaar – an event run by the United Way of Russia for more than six years. The event provides an opportunity to buy ceramics, paintings, handmade items, Christmas decorations, and unique crafts made by foster children and other children in need. All of the proceeds benefit charity projects run by participating organizations.

For the fifth consecutive year, Kinross showcased indigenous crafts made by children from the Chukotka region, where Kupol and Dvoinoye are located. Many of the crafts are animal carvings, made from reindeer bones and walrus tusks. The money earned from the sale of these crafts is used to support the children of Chukotka through the purchase of learning aids such as craft supplies and study guides.

The Moscow United Way Christmas Charity Bazaar provides an additional opportunity for Kinross to render support to children in need in Chukotka, and to promote the culture of Chukotka’s indigenous people in Moscow,” said Lou Naumovski (Vice-President & General Director, Moscow Representative Office). “Our company’s exposition of Chukotka indigenous crafts has been one of the main attractions of the event since its inception.”
