In June, Kinross Russia attended the 12th annual Integrated Safety and Security Exhibition in Moscow.
The purpose of the exhibition, which was organized in collaboration with the Russian government, is to raise awareness about emergency response training, fire and water safety, and to share technologies and best practices across various industries in Russia.
Anatoly Taran, Health and Safety Business Partner, Kupol, Andrey Kazantsev, Mine Rescue Engineer, Kupol, and Alexander Lemba, Head of Emergency Flight Support, Kupol, attended the exhibition and presented integrated safety and security solutions implemented across our Russian operations.
Their presentation focused on safety and security techniques that have been modified to meet the difficult conditions that come with operating in an Arctic region.
“Our attendance at this year’s safety and security exhibition was an excellent success,” said Andrey Kazantsev, Mine Rescue Engineer, Kupol. “We attracted the attention of numerous attendees who were interested in learning more about Kinross’ safety and security techniques in the remote arctic environment, while also gaining exposure to a variety of new techniques that we will take back to site with us.”
Kinross Russia remains one of our top performing mines for safety. In 2018, Kupol had their lowest Lost-Time Injury Frequency Rate from the last five years, with a score of 0.06. The mine also reduced their Total Reportable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) from 0.32 in 2017 to 0.22 in 2018.
