As part of Kinross’ commitment to environmental stewardship, Tasiast provided over US$12,500 (450,000 MRU) to fund a 15-day ‘clean-up campaign’ in the city of Chami organized by the Association ADEC (Action for the Development of Chami’s Environment).
The campaign brought together over 50 employees, groups of volunteers from Chami schools, and trucks and dozers to assist in waste collection and disposal across the city, while promoting environmental awareness and best practices for waste disposal.
During the opening ceremony of the campaign, Mayor of Chami, Mr. Limam Ould Sidi, thanked Kinross for their commitment to ensuring the highest standards of environmental responsibility and supporting local initiatives in the Chami community.
Since 2017, Kinross Tasiast has provided over US$75,000 (3.1 million MRU) for waste disposal initiatives in the Chami and Benichab communities, as well as the National Park of Banc d’Arguin. Funding initiatives included the provision of waste collection vehicles, fencing materials and tools, and other green initiatives such as tree planting.
