Watch this video to learn more about how Kinross is working with the colla community to preserve cultural heritage in Chile and with a look toward the future!
At Kinross, we are committed to developing and operating projects in a matter that respects and strengthens Indigenous communities and honours their local traditions and culture. In Chile, we have partnered with the local colla community in the Atacama region to support a wide variety of projects to preserve the community’s cultural heritage, empower women and young people through capacity building and support adult literacy and entrepreneurship programs.
“We are pleased to work alongside the colla community to help further strengthen their cultural heritage and support initiatives for youth to better understand their traditions, and how they can build on them for the future,” said Javier Vega Salinas, Community Relations Specialist, Chile. “We are also excited to work with community elders to provide education and economic opportunities that will support their career development and help them create a lasting future in the region. We look forward to building on our programs in the region and look forward to what is next!”
