Kinross attends 2024 PDAC Convention in Toronto!

At the beginning of March, Kinross attended the 2024 Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Mineral Exploration and Mining Convention in Toronto, Canada.

Over the course of four days, Kinross representatives volunteered their time at our booth to meet with prospectors, developers and investors  to share information about the Company, our exciting operations and development projects, and to generate new business relationships with investors and suppliers.

Several government officials stopped by Kinross’ booth including Ontario’s Premier Doug Ford and Ontario’s Minister of Mines George Pirie. The Minister’s delegation later met with Geoff Gold, President, Mike van Akkooi, Senior Vice-President, External Affairs, and Luke Jalsevac, Vice-President and Project Director, Great Bear, to provide an update on the Great Bear project in Red Lake, Ontario.

Several other meetings took place over the course of the convention including ProChile’s Business to Business panel with 10 female-owned Chilean businesses. Helen Hernandez, Analyst, Supply Chain Governance, participated in the panel to speak with the women about working with Canadian mining companies, building relationships and partnerships in the industry and the supplier due diligence process at Kinross. Kinross also partnered with Women in Mining Canada during the ‘Mining for Diversity workshop – Building trust: Fuel your professional success’ to host a fireside chat on Women’s Leadership in Mining with Geisa Ferreira, Director, Resource Geology, Isabel Espinoza, Deputy Engineering Manager, Great Bear Special Projects, and Dominic Channer, Vice-President, Community Relations, which was moderated by Dinah Asare, Senior Director, Social Performance. During the fireside chat, participants discussed the impact of diversity, as well as the crucial role of male allyship and how it fosters equality and inclusion.

“Each year, PDAC is an excellent opportunity to connect with investors, prospectors and developers, both new and existing, to showcase the exciting progress being made at Kinross,” said Victoria Barrington, Senior Director, Communications. “We had a successful convention and are excited to continue building on the relationships made during PDAC 2024!”
