The Chirano Women’s Club welcomed special guests at their meeting in February.
Gina Jardine, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources, Esther Girgis, Director, Talent Management, Leadership and Learning, and Marie-Pascale Gagnon, Regional Director, Human Resources, particpated in meetings to discuss the Club’s goals of empowering women in the mining sector and providing support.
Gina also spoke with members about diversity and inclusivity across Kinross. She highlighted the importance of women in mining and encouraged female mentorship across the organization.
The women created a theme for 2018: ‘to encourage women to act as agents of change in the community and organizational sustainability,’ in alliance with Kinross’ Corporate Responsibility goals.
The latest initiative created by the Club is the Adolescent Reproductive Health Centre. The program will educate female youth on reproductive health, and provide counselling and support to community members.
“The Chirano Women’s club demonstrates our commitment to empowering women in the mining sector while supporting our neighbours in surrounding communities. As women, our job is to work together and provide mentorship to others within our organization and communities” said Gina Jardine.
The Chirano Women’s Club was established in 2016 with 180 members including Kinross employees and community members.
