On May 8, Kinross hosted its 2019 Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders in Toronto, Canada. Catherine McLeod-Seltzer, chaired the Annual Meeting for the first time as the newly appointed Chair of the Board.
During the business portion of the meeting, shareholders elected our Board of Directors including new member David Scott, Independent Director. Details of the voting results can be viewed here.
David recently retired from the position Vice Chair and Managing Director of Global Mining Investment Banking at CIBC. During his 20-year career with CIBC, Mr. Scott held progressively senior positions, and played an active role in the majority of significant M&A and equity financing transactions completed in Canada in the last 20 years. He holds a BASc in Geology from the University of Western Ontario.
J. Paul Rollinson, President & CEO, highlighted Kinross’ strong start to the year and spoke about our strategic priorities of responsible mining, operational excellence and financial discipline.

We are a 2.5 million ounce gold producer with strong operations and a diverse portfolio of low-risk projects and opportunities for future development,” said Paul. “We believe we are well-positioned for continued success, with a steadfast resolve to execute our strategy, build on our record of strong performance and deliver value for all our stakeholders.”
The presentation included a video on the progress of the Phase W expansion project at Round Mountain in Nevada, and a video on our CR efforts to conserve water in Paracatu, Brazil.
