This nomination comes from initiatives such as providing quality healthcare access in remote locations, our outstanding Benefit Footprint, and our education programs. Other examples include our strong commitment to health, safety and the well-being of employees and community members, and our positive socio-economic impact on advancing local workforces in host communities.
“We are focusing our efforts on measurement of community-based outcomes from our mining operations, both for specific projects and also through socio-economic studies,” said Dominic Channer, Vice-President, Community Relations.
The SDG awards encourage Canadian organizations to embed 17 Global Goals in their companies, while highlighting the progress private and public sectors make in improving environmental, social and economic problems facing society.
The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is a voluntary corporate strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
