In 2023, Kinross partnered with the Young Mining Professionals Scholarship Fund (YMPSF) to award two students pursuing mining-related programs at post-secondary institutions across Canada with a $5,000 scholarship to support their education.
The students were selected after completing an essay based on one of Kinross’ four core values, followed by a presentation to a panel of Kinross representatives to discuss an ongoing issue in the mining industry and potential solutions and strategies to resolve it.
Congratulations to Dex Feliciano, a fifth year Mining Engineering student at the University of British Columbia, and Tatiana Pillajo, a Master of Science in Geology – Mineral Exploration student at Laurentian University, for being this year’s Kinross Student in Mining Scholarship recipients!

In addition to the two scholarships awarded by Kinross as part of the ‘Student in Mining’ scholarship, we also partnered with Sprott to award ten students with lottery scholarships worth $500 each, bringing the grand total of scholarship contributions through YMPSF to $12,500 in 2023.
