Compliance is not optional on the mine site. As an HSE officer, I always conduct inspections and monitor the work areas to make sure any practice that contradicts HSE guidelines on site are corrected ASAP.
There is a saying, “The standard you walk past is the standard you accept”. So I make sure I don’t walk pass by anything that concerns me. Encouraging workers to do more is also a good practice.
