Chirano Gold Mines Limited (CGML) recently took part in a local farmer’s day in the Sefwi Kojina region in Ghana. Lydia Opoku, a local farmer from Sefwi Amprompi, was declared the winner in the “best farmer competition” and won a motorized tricycle donated by CGML. Other farmers took home various agricultural materials, including cocoa weighing scales, snap sack spraying machines, agro-chemicals, wellington boots, cutlasses, and refrigerators.
In addition to supporting the local farmer’s day, CGML donated two farming tricycles valued at US$4,000 to the Sefwi Wiawso and Bibiani-Anhwiaso Bekwai districts. The Kinross-donated tricylces will enable farmers to easily move their produce to nearby market centres and reduce overall post-harvest losses.
