Council of Chiefs near Chirano Donate Land to Build Vocational School

The Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, representing over 150 chiefs in the Sefwi Wiawso area, met with Chirano Gold Mines Limited (CGML) management in September to donate a large tract of uncultivated land for the establishment of a technical-vocational institute. The Council also pledged to co-fund the development of the training school, which will be dedicated to teaching skilled trades to youths between the ages of 13 to 30, with CGML.

“We are very grateful for the long-standing support and donation from the Paramount Chiefs and Elders,” said Kenneth Norris (Vice-President and General Manager, Chirano). “CGML is committed to improving opportunities for youths in the Sefwi Wiawso area, and the proposed school will provide educational opportunities that did not exist before.”

The Council’s request is currently under budgetary review with CGML.
