Kinross marked ‘World Malaria Day’ on April 25

On April 25th, we marked ‘World Malaria Day’, an opportunity to recognize global efforts to control malaria – an illness that claims the lives of over 400,000 people a year.

Kinross has invested $8.7 million in malaria control through preventative measures including spraying, bed nets and mosquito control in and around our Chirano mine in Ghana. As a result of our malaria control program at Chirano, there has been a 92% reduction in the incidence of malaria in our workforce since 2008.

Captured above, our teams conduct house sprays in communities surrounding Chirano.
