Kinross Tasiast restarts apprenticeship program for young Mauritanian’s

This summer, Kinross Tasiast restarted the site’s apprenticeship program and welcomed over 50 young Mauritanian’s to the mine this year. The program was previously open from 2012-2016 and led to the recruitment of nearly 100 young technicians.

The program provides hands-on experience to Mauritanians, and over the course of 9-12 months the apprentices will gain exposure to a variety of fields including industrial mechanics, heavy-duty mechanics, electrical and instrumentation, and welding. At the end of the apprenticeship at Tasiast, trainees have the opportunity to pursue the remaining three levels of the program in a field of their choice.

Captured above, members of the apprenticeship program kick off their internship.
