This October, a Fort Knox employee captured this breathtaking view of the Northern Lights one evening as they shined over the Fort Knox mine.
Fort Knox is located in Fairbanks, Alaska, which is a top destination for spotting the Northern Lights during ‘Aurora Season’ that takes place from August-April. Fairbanks is positioned under the ring-shaped zone known as the ‘Auroral Oval’, which has approximately 4/5 nights of visibility of the Northern Lights.
A special thanks to Shyanna Peninger, Equipment Operator, Fort Knox, for capturing this photo. If you have photos you’d like to see on Kinross World, send us an email at Photos@Kinross.com
