At Kinross, health and safety are our number one priority. We have one of the best safety records in the industry, and our performance in 2013 is a testament to everyone`s commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture.
In 2013, we reported zero fatal injuries for the first time since 2006. Last year also marked our best performance against key injury-related metrics in Kinross’ history: Total Reportable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) and Severity Rate (SR) (excluding fatalities). Our year-end TRIFR was 0.43 versus a target of 0.57, and year-end SR was 3.3 versus a target of 4.1 across the Company.
“We ended 2013 without recording any fatal injuries, and the lowest reportable injury and severity rate in the Company’s history. This is a significant achievement, and our best-in-class health and safety performance is a result of everyone’s collective effort and hard work,” says Hugh Ducasse (Vice-President, Health & Safety).
