Over the course of four days, a delegation of senior executives including Paul Rollinson, CEO, Claude Schimper, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, Mike van Akkooi, Senior Vice-President, External Affairs and co-Head of ESG, Brahim M’Bareck, President of Tasiast, and Afjal Hashim, Vice-President and General Manager, Tasiast, met with government officials, investors and stakeholders to promote Tasiast’s accomplishments and Mauritania’s attractiveness as a country for investment in the mining sector.
In addition to these discussions, Kinross hosted a booth at the Mauritania pavilion that was visited by the Mauritanian Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Nani Ould Chrougha, who participated in the ceremonial grand opening of the pavilion, as well as the South African Minister of Mines.
“Each year, INDABA is an excellent opportunity to promote Mauritania by sharing the positive experience Kinross has had operating in the country. We believe this conference can attract investment to the country, while also building on our relationships with external stakeholders, investors and government officials who visit the Pavilion. Kinross was delighted to partner with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to further develop African’s mining sector!”
