Kinross Chile was recently recognized by the Regional Mining Safety Committee and National Geology and Mining Agency for its exemplary safety performance in 2020, reaching a combined eight million hours without a Lost-Time Injury between La Coipa and Maricunga.
The award was presented to Rolando Cubillos, Vice-President Operations, Chile, by the Regional Mining Safety Committee President and National Geology and Mining Agency Director at a ceremony held at Copiapó.
“We are very pleased by this recognition given by Coresemin and Sernageomin, the two main institutions related to safety in the Atacama region,” said Rolando. “This represents a lot of hard work, five million hours without Lost-Time Injury in Maricunga, and more than three million hours at La Coipa. This is a credit to the people who kept safety top of mind, and focused on getting home safe every day.”
“We recognize Kinross for their efforts to maintain a safe workplace especially during the challenging year we had in 2020,” said Gaston Burgos, Regional Mining Safety Committee President. “Coresemin has performed a thorough study of companies and highlighted Kinross as one of the most impressive ones in regards to incident controls, and how they manage safety. Kinross is a company that stands for a safe working environment, as well as passion and commitment to protecting its people.”
