In February, Kinross Chile became the official sponsor of Deportes Copiapó, a local soccer team in the Atacama region!
The sponsorship includes supporting the team and the development of sports workshops for the community, including the redesign of the team’s uniforms under the team name the ‘Atacama Lions’.
On February 7th, a ceremony was held to announce the sponsorship and present the club with their new jerseys for the 2022 season. In attendance was Luis Galdames, President of the Atacama team, Guillermo Olivares, General Manager, La Coipa and other government officials, including the Governor of the Atacama region, Miguel Vargas. The event concluded with a ceremonial signing of the official agreement between Kinross and the club making them the official sponsors.
“Today marks a significant milestone by becoming the official sponsor of the Atacama Lions after working closely with the club since last August to bring this idea to life,” said Guillermo. “We are excited for our partnership with the club and the continued support our Company and the community will bring to the club. We wish the Lions every sporting success this season!”
