Kinross Chirano recently hosted a ‘Family Day’ at the mine, during which employees’ spouses and children got a first-hand look at their loved ones’ day-to-day jobs.
The event was part of the rollout for the new Chirano Safety Pledge that encourages employees to work safely, and be safety role models at home and in their community. Spouses learned about simple but effective safety measures they can implement at home.
Employees were then asked to take the safety pledge in front of their families as a reminder of why we work safely. After taking the pledge, employees had the opportunity to show their loved ones around the mine and introduce them to one another.
“Taking the safety pledge in front of loved ones shows our commitment to coming home safely each night and ensuring we share our safe work practices at home and in the community,” said Adriano Sobreira, Vice-President and General Manager, Chirano.
