Chirano Gold Mines Limited recently hosted a two day inter-community football tournament for neighbouring communities near the mine site. The tournament is a part of Chirano’s commitment to build unity among the youth in the area, and brought together 14 community football teams.
All participating teams took home prizes, with the Akoti football club taking home the top prize – the tournament trophy, sport jerseys and football equipment.
Local chiefs from the Akoti, Anyinasie and Kwawkrom communities attended the tournament to cheer on their teams.
