Kinross Gold was excited to partner with the Goodman School of Mines at Laurentian University to present the 2025 Goodman Gold Challenge as the title sponsors of the event once again.
The GGC is a mining investment conference bringing together students from across North American universities to compete in a series of challenges to analyze real mining companies.
This year, more than 40 students made up of 11 teams competed in the challenge that evaluated three mining projects located in Brazil and Guyana. The students received pitches from the companies CEO’s as to why they should invest in their companies, then evaluated data and discussed key analytics to justify which Company would be the best investment opportunity. Students then prepared pitches to present to a panel of judges, with the strongest pitch being awarded first place. Congratulation to Queens University from Kingston, Ontario, who received first place at this years GGC!
The Queens University team was awarded their victory at the closing ceremonies by Kinross Gold’s Chair of the Board of Directors, Catherine McLeod-Seltzer, who presented the students with their award and provided a keynote address at the event.
Kinross Gold is proud to be the title sponsor of the Goodman Gold Challenge since the challenge’s initiation in 2017, and to support the challenge as it has grown over the past seven years. The Challenge is an excellent opportunity for students across all disciplines to participate in a competitive learning environment, and to grow their network by connecting with students and leaders in the mining industry during this exciting annual challenge.
