Kinross Helps the Arctic Winter Games Go Green

The 2014 Arctic Winter Games hosted its first “green games” thanks to Kinross’ Gold Level sponsorship. The Games are the world’s largest northern multi-sport and cultural event, and was held in Fairbanks, Alaska with a focus on recycling. The 2014 Games collected 8,156 pounds of plastic, aluminum and paper and 3,300 in organics for a total of 11,456 pounds of recyclables.

Kinross’ financial investment and the positive impact on the community will live on after the Games. The recycling containers will be re-used and located in different areas in Fairbanks for years to come. To learn more about the Arctic Winter Games and its recycling program, watch this video featuring Fort Knox’s Anna Atchison (Community & Government Relations Manager, Fort Knox) (available in English only).
