On August 8th, representatives from Kinross’ leadership team including Paul Rollinson, President & CEO, and Geoff Gold, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development, External Relations & Chief Legal Officer, traveled to Mahkwa Lodge on Lac Seul to meet with Chief Bill Petiquan from the Wabauskang First Nation, Chief Clifford Bull from the Lac Seul First Nation, and band and council members.
Additional Kinross team members in attendance included Ian Russell, Site Manager, Great Bear, Luke Jalsevac, Vice-President and Project Director, Great Bear, Dominic Channer, Vice-President, Community Relations and Keith Abergel, Senior Director, Corporate Development.
The group met at the Mahkwa Lodge on Lac Seul where they had the opportunity to join the Chiefs on a fishing trip followed by a luncheon at the lodge. The Chiefs then hosted a ceremonial celebration to acknowledge the signing of the Advanced Exploration Agreement at Great Bear and the continued growth of strong relations between Kinross and the First Nations.
The celebration began with a traditional drum ceremony and continued with speeches from Chief Petiquan, Chief Bull and Paul Rollinson before gifts were exchanged.
