Kinross Paracatu recently launched a virtual Integrar program as a result of restrictions associated with COVID-19. The program aims to connect the community virtually while supporting different social actions developed in the region and promoting engagement.
The Integrar program is a social investment platform created by Kinross in 2011 that targets sustainable development in the Paracatu region and focuses on four main pillars: education, environmental awareness, culture and generating economic opportunities.
The online platform will act as a source of information for community members, including updates on COVID-19, and will promote initiatives and campaigns surrounding the four pillars. The team has also created a radio station in collaboration with the Municipal Education Secretariat, Regional Teaching Superintendence and local networks that will provide additional educational support for students from grade six through nine.
“We’ve worked hard to adapt our program to make it accessible to the community during COVID-19. In May, we surveyed the community to find out what would be most helpful and recognized we would need to expand beyond our regular programming to include areas of health and safety, particularly related to the virus,” said Ana Cunha, Director, Government Relations and Social Responsibility, Paracatu. “We are excited to launch this new site and to keep our community engaged and connected during this difficult time.”
